Griz football fall camp: Week one report

MISSOULA ?C The University of Montana Grizzly football team has just a couple of practices under its belt in the 2007 fall drills, but fifth-year head coach Bobby Hauck said the one thing that he is pleased with is the attitude that his players came in with.
??The new guys are assimilating into the program and working hard to learn our system,?? said Hauck. ??They look good. I like our football team. I think we are in tremendous physical condition. In other years we had a lot of players missing practice, and we don??t have any at this point.??
Hauck said that some of his key players like (senior punter) Tyson Johnson and (senior running back) Lex Hilliard, who missed last season due to injury, are performing well.
??Both Lex and Tyson look good,?? Hauck said. Tyson is punting the ball really well, and his consistency is better than it has been in other fall camps. Lex will be somewhere between 230 and 240 pounds this year and he looks great.??
??Our running back position looks loaded,?? Hauck said. ??It??s good to have Greg (Coleman, a junior running back who also missed last year because of an injury). He??s a big back who can get you some yards and he looks quicker than he has in the past. (Senior) Reggie Bradshaw, (sophomore) Thomas Brooks-Fletcher, and (junior) Andrew Schmidt all look like they can contribute as well.??
The Griz will continue to hold one-a-day practices for the next couple of days, with the first double-session slated for Monday, Aug. 13.
Montana??s first scrimmage is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 18 in Washington-Grizzly Stadium, starting around 10:10 a.m., and is free to the public.
