Borkowski named to All-Big Sky Conference team

University of Montana sophomore Mikolaj Borkowski was named to the second team All-Big Sky Conference tennis squad the league office announced Friday. Senior Mari Castello, junior Felipe Raw and freshman David Cysneiros were all recognized as honorable mention all-conference for UM.
Borkowski, from Olsztyn, Poland, went 25-9 (4-4 BSC) in singles play and 14-12 (3-4 BSC) in doubles action over the 2007-08 tournament and dual match schedule. He was an honorable mention all-conference pick last season as a freshman.
Castello was UM??s only player recognized on the women??s side, an honorable mention selection for the second consecutive season. The Belleville, Ill., native went 7-12 (6-2 BSC) in singles action while registering a 10-7 (6-2 BSC) doubles mark this season. Castello, who earned second team all-league honors in both her freshman and sophomore seasons, finished her career with a 49-45 singles record and a 60-35 doubles mark.
Raw (pronounced HOW), from Brasilia, Brazil, went 15-11 (4-4 BSC) in singles and 13-11 (6-2 BSC) in doubles action this season. He was a second team all-league pick a year ago.
Cysneiros, a first-year player from Oakville, Ontario, recorded a 15-10 (5-2 BSC) singles and a 10-10 (5-2 BSC) doubles mark.
The Montana men??s tennis team finished the year with an 8-9 overall mark, 3-5 in conference play. UM ended the season with a 4-3 semifinal loss to Sacramento State in the Big Sky Conference Tennis Championships. The Griz women went 8-12 overall and 5-3 in conference play in 2007-08, losing to Eastern Washington in the first round of the league??s postseason tournament.
