All 12 of The University of Montana Grizzly football team's 2008 regular-season games will be televised this year, announced UM Athletics Director Jim O'Day.
The Grizzlies open their season at nationally ranked Cal Poly on Sept. 6. UM's four non-conference games, which include Cal Poly, Southern Utah, UC-Davis and Central Washington, will be shown live on the CW-TV Network, a sister station of KPAX-TV and Montana's News Stations.
"KPAX/KAJ-TV and our Montana News Stations, KRTV, KXLF, KTVQ, KXLH, KBZK across Montana are pleased to once again offer live television coverage of the Grizzlies in their bid to repeat as Big Sky Conference champions and their quest for national title opportunities again," said KPAX-TV general manager Bob Hermes. "Our staff and stations have a long commitment to our viewers in providing coverage of the Grizzlies, and this year we will produce and televise all non-conference and conference games live on our CW or CBS broadcast signals."
This will be the 13th year in a row KPAX-TVof Missoula will serve as UM's flagship television station. They will also broadcast all eight of the Grizzlies' Big Sky Conference contests.
"Thanks to the efforts of Bob Hermes and KPAX, as well as Learfield Sports/Grizzly Sports Properties, all 12 Grizzly football games will be televised live for the first time in four years," O'Day said. "We certainly appreciate KPAX's continued commitment to Grizzly Athletics, as do all UM fans.
"I believe that The University of Montana will have the only football team playing in the Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Division I-AA) to have all of its games televised this fall," o'Day said. "That says a lot about our program and the tremendous fan support we have at UM. Even when people can't make it to the stadium, most are watching the game somewhere across the country. With the cooperation of KPAX and Montana's News Stations, we're able to make that happen."
