Germer named o-line coach at Montana

Chad Germer has returned to his home state after a six-year hiatus, and is the new offensive line coach at The University of Montana, announced seventh-year head coach Bobby Hauck.
Germer spent the previous six seasons at the University of Wyoming as an assistant coach for former Cowboy head coach Joe Glenn (Montana???s mentor from 2000-2002) and is now in his 12th season of coaching at the college level. Chad moved from his alma mater, the University of Montana (1993), to Wyoming in 2003, where he coached the offensive line.??He was also the offensive line coach at Montana. "Chad is a good man and a good football coach, we are excited to have him back at Montana," Hauck said. "His toughness and his intensity make him a good fit for our staff." Wyoming senior guard Kyle Howard and senior center Tim Bond were All-Mountain West Conference honorable mention picks. Bond was on the 2007 Dave Rimington Preseason Watch List for the nation???s top center.

Germer began his college coaching career at Montana in 1998 as a restricted-earnings coach.??He became a full-time assistant in 1999.?? During his five seasons as a coach at Montana, the Griz won or shared five Big Sky Conference Championships, advanced to the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) playoffs each of those five seasons, reached the FCS national title game twice (2000 and ???01) and won the 2001 National Championship.??He coached four All-Americans during his time at UM.??
Germer???s 2002 offensive line unit helped the Grizzly offense rank 18th in the nation in scoring offense (31.5 points per game) and 22nd in passing offense (245.6 yards per game).??In 2001, the Grizzlies won the NCAA Division I-AA National Championship, as the offense averaged 33.8 points and 419.2 yards per game to rank 20th and 21st, respectively, in the final NCAA I-AA statistical rankings.??The Griz also ended the 2000 season in the National Championship game, finishing as the national runner-up to Georgia Southern.??UM???s offense ranked sixth in the nation in passing offense (313.0 yards per game) in 2000 and 15th in total offense (455.9 yards per game).????
As an All-America player, Germer started 36 consecutive games at center from the 1989-91 seasons.??A first team All-Big Sky selection and All-America honoree in 1991, Germer was also selected to play in the Blue-Gray All-Star Football Classic following his senior season.??He signed as a free-agent with the Cincinnati Bengals of the NFL and went to camp with them in 1992.????
Germer earned his bachelor of science degree in business administration, with anemphasis in marketing and management, from the University of Montana in 1993.????
A native of Three Forks, Mont., he and his wife, Amy, have two sons, Nicholas and Alex.????
While at Wyoming, Germer???s primary recruiting areas were Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota and Wisconsin.
