The Big Sky Conference has named Montana junior Olivia Weber the Black Clover Big Sky Conference Golfer of the Week for her performance at the Challenge at Onion Creek golf tournament Monday and Tuesday in Austin, Texas.
Weber finished 14th at the event and shot a season low 222 in the 54-hole tournament. Her three-round score was not just a personal best, beating her 2010-11 mark of 228, but it was the lowest 54-hole score shot by a Grizzly this season.
"I am really excited about being recognized by the Big Sky," said Weber. "I have been working really hard on my game this year and it is so nice to see that culminate with this honor."
Weber opened the first round with a two-over-par 72 and followed that with two rounds of 75.
In her opening round Weber started slowly on the back nine but then had three birdies on the front nine to finish the round only three shots back from first place.
"I'm so thrilled for Olivia she's been working extremely hard on her game this fall and it's exciting to see her performance reflect her efforts," said coach Emily Milberger.
"Olivia is a strong, dedicated player and this is such a great accomplishment for her."
Montana shot rounds of 300, 309, and 305 for a 914 at the Challenge at Onion Creek for an 11th-place finish. Texas Tech won the event with an 874.
This is Weber's first career Golfer of the Week Honor.
