Men's tennis drops title match to Sacramento 4-0

The Grizzly men's tennis team's season came to a disappointing end Sunday afternoon when they dropped the Big Sky Conference Championship match 4-0 to Sacramento State at the Gold River Racquet Club in Gold River, Calif.
The Grizzlies finished the regular season 8-0 in Big Sky Conference play and advance to the championship with a 4-3 semifinal win over Weber State.
Sacramento State won the second seed on a 7-1 conference record and advanced to the title match after beating Eastern Washington 4-0.
The Hornets gained the doubles point with an 8-6 win at the No. 2 and an 8-5 win at No. 3.
"We were right in the doubles point but we couldn't get the win," coach Kris Nord said. "When we lost that it hurt us."
The Grizzlies went into the singles action down a point, it mirrored the last time the Griz and Hornets met. That match ended in a 4-3 Grizzly win, this match would have a different outcome.
Sac State's Aliaksandr Malko made quick work of Carl Kuschkeat No. 1 singles winning 6-2, 6-2.
The Hornets' had a 2-0 lead and tom Miller beat Andreas Luczak6-0, 6-3. The Hornet lead was now 3-0 and the Griz were one point away from the end of their season.
At No. 3 Sac's Javier Millan topped Andrew Warren6-1, 6-2 to lock up the 4-0 win and the Big Sky title.
"You have to give credit to Sac State," Nord said. "They played real well today, they came out on fire and we didn't respond."
Despite the loss Nord is pleased with this season's results even if it doesn't feel great right now.
"It was a disappointing loss and the guys aren't happy," Nord said. "Looking back on the last three months they should be proud of what they have accomplished. This was the best season I've had in 30 years."
