Bobcats beat Griz 5-2 in Bozeman

A place in the Big Sky conference tournament is assured but there will be no repeat as the regular season champions for the Montana men's Tennis team.
The Grizzlies lost to Montana State 5-2 at the Bobcat-Anderson Tennis Center in Bozeman to drop the Griz to 7-2 in Big Sky play.
Montana (8-7, 7-2 BSC) now sit in fourth place behind first place Idaho State (13-3, 8-0 BSC), second place Sacramento State (14-12, 9-1 BSC) and the Bobcats (12-7, 8-1 BSC).
The Grizzlies scored a 1-0 lead after winning two dramatic wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Andrew Warren and Eric Braun topped Niklas Brandes and Diego Campos 9-8 and Zach Drost and Semion Branzburg beat Kenny Dodd and Harry James 9-8 giving the Griz the point.
The Bobcats then won four consecutive singles matches giving them a 4-1 advantage to clinch the win.
The lone victory for the Griz came at No. 5 where Drost defeated Prithiv Sivasubramaniam 6-2, 6-0.
Semion Branzburg lost a hard-fought match to Campos at No. 4, 7-6, 4-6, 7-6.
The Big Sky race is tight at the top but the Grizzlies can finish no higher than third, but no lower than fourth.
Sacramento State has finished conference play. The Hornets hope that Idaho State will drop one of their final two matches against Montana (April 20) and Montana State (April 21). The Bobcats still have the opportunity to grab a share of the title if they can defeat Idaho State in their final match.
