Griz football program to host annual auction and golf tourney

The University of Montana Grizzly football program will be hosting its annual Gene Brosovich Celebrity Invitational Auction and Golf Tournament on Thursday and Friday, August 1-2, 2013.
All Griz football fans are welcome to join the coaches and Griz celebrities (former players and coaches) at the Holiday Inn Downtown on Thursday, Aug 1 beginning with a social hour and then followed by the auction. The auction is free to the public.
A Butte-themed hors d'oeuvre social hour begins at 6:00 p.m. A silent action will be offered, and the drawing for raffle prize drawings begins at 7:00 p.m., and will be followed by a live auction which starts at 8:30 p.m.
Former Griz players expected to attend the auction include quarterback Cole Bergquist (2005-08), offensive lineman Walt Brett (1971-74), wide receiver/returner Bill Cockhill (1990-93), safety Mick Dennehy (1969-70, and head coach 1996-99), safety Pat Dolan (1968-70), offensive lineman Sam Jankovich (1956-57), kicker Andrew Larson (1993-96), safety Blaine McElmurry (1993-96), lineman Steve Okoniewski (1970-71), nose tackle David Paoli (1978-81), safety Robin Peters (1969-71), tight end Brian Salonen (1980-83), safety Karl Stein (1969-70), the father/son duo of Bryan (linebacker, 1989-90) and Gene Tripp (lineman, 1963-64), running back JR Waller (2002-05), and wide receiver Glenn Welch (1970-71).
A couple of the auction items this year include a signed 1995 National Championship Dave Dickenson jersey, and original artwork by Montana Grizzly cornerbacks coach, Aric Williams. Fans are encouraged to help support this important fund-raising event for the Grizzly Football Program.
The golf tournament on Friday, August 2, has a full field of players, and will be held at the Canyon Golf Course in East Missoula.
