Nationally-ranked Boise State clipped the Montana Grizzlies men's tennis team 6-1 at the Appleton Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon in Boise, Idaho.

Andrew Warren earned the Griz its lone point in a third set tiebreaker win over Thomas Tenreiro at No. 2 singles.

"We wanted to push them," Head coach Kris Nord said of the No. 23 Broncos. "And I feel like we did that. We competed really well today."

The Broncos swept the doubles point Saturday evening, but it didn't come easy. Semion Branzburg and Ethan Vaughn lost 8-5, as did Mikolaj Caruk and Peter Mimnagh-Fleming.

"We had a great chance to win at No. 1 doubles," Nord said. "We started a little slow at No. 2, and made a great comeback. It was real competitive, and I felt like we were in all three matches."

In singles play, Zach Drost lost in three sets at No. 6. Branzburg played a tight match at No. 3, losing 7-5, 6-3.

"I feel like we've improved and closed the gap with (Boise State)," Nord said. "They're a nice team, and we battled them real well. I'm really happy with how we played today."

The Griz finish the weekend with one win and two losses, with its other loss coming against Marquette, and its win being a 7-0 rout of Utah State.

"I feel like we're closer to everyone going out and playing a complete match," Nord said. "It was a tough weekend, it was a long travel down here. It's not an easy trip, and our guys handled it real well."

The Griz play Southern Utah at 2 p.m. on Friday.
