Gregory named to Division I Academic All-America team

Big Sky Academic All-Americans 
University of Montana guard Jordan Gregory has been named to the prestigious, 15-player Capital One NCAA Division I Academic All-America men's basketball team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, that organization announced Thursday.
Gregory is a 6-2 senior from Pueblo, Colo., who maintains a 3.69 GPA and majors in psychology, was named to the third team. Earlier this month he was named to the Co-SIDA All-District Academic first team squad, which advanced him to the ballot for Academic All-America consideration. He has been named to the league's all-academic team the past two seasons.
He is the Grizzlies' second leading scorer and is ranked fifth in the Big Sky Conference, averaging 16.7 points a game. He is ranked third in the league in 3-pointers made per game (2.7 pg) and ninth in free throw percentage (78.0%).
Gregory is currently ranked 19th in school history with 1,106 points. He is the 29th player at Montana to score 1,000 or more career points. He is ranked 28th in Big Sky history with 175 career 3-point shots made. His parents are Mark and Tanya Gregory of Pueblo.
Gregory is the seventh player in school history named an Academic All-American, joining Craig Zanon (1980 and 1981), Larry Krystkowiak (1983-84-85-86), Scott Zanon (1986 and 1987), Jeremy Lake (1995), Matt Williams (2000), and Mathias Ward (2013). Montana's seven Academic All-America selections are twice as many by any team in Big Sky history.
Graduate student Ashley Luke of Western Illinois University and senior Matt Townsend of Yale University were selected the 2014-15 Capital One Academic All-America® of the Year for Division I women's and men's players of the year by Co-SIDA. Luke has earned degrees in journalism and political science with a perfect 4.0 G.P.A. Townsend, who is a molecular, cellular and developmental biology major, carries a 3.98.
The award honors the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Capital One has sponsored the award since 2011.
