Griz roll to 7-0 win over Lewis-Clark State

The Montana men's tennis team got an ideal start to the 2018 season, sweeping the visiting Lewis-Clark State Warriors 7-0 with straight-sets wins on each court.
The win puts the Griz at 1-0 to start the year as they set off on a mission to return to the Big Sky Championship match for the second-straight season.
"I think we started pretty good," said junior Alexander Canellopoulos. "It's early in the season, but we're prepared, we're focused, and that was a good test. I think we all did very well."
From the opening serve to the final match on court six, Montana asserted its strength on the NAIA Warriors, not allowing the visitors to take more than three games in any set.
The Griz swept the doubles point 6-2, 6-1, 6-2 to go up 1-0 early in the match, and didn't look back from there, taking six straight-sets wins in the singles round.
"We talked a lot about going out in a real professional manner, no matter who the opponent is, because you can't turn that on and off, and they did a great job of that," said interim Head Coach Jason Brown.

"Everybody treated this like we were in conference, not like it was the first match of the season. Across the board, I'm really excited about how they played."
Canellopoulos and Yannick Schmidl, Montana's all-conference doubles pair, picked up where they left off after running through Big Sky competition 7-1 last season, taking a 6-2 win on court 1.
Canellopoulos was also dominant on singles court three, defeating LCSC's Tony Chin (6-0, 6-1) to take the first match of the day.
"Alex looked like I thought he would from the preseason. He's stronger, and is going to be a monster at three," said Brown.
"We've been working on coming forward a lot. His hands are unbelievable coming forward in doubles, and sometimes he'd get stuck behind the baseline, not utilizing a huge asset. He's doing a good job implementing it."
Sophomore Ludvig Hallgren was also dominant for the Griz, blanking LCSC's Roberto Salazar (6-0, 6-0) on court six.
Hallgren is one of Montana's most improved players over the fall season and will solidify the bottom of the lineup for crucial late-round points.
"At six, he's going to be really tough for people to deal with the way he plays," Brown Said.
Due to hazardous road conditions, Saturday's "Brawl of the Courts" match between Montana and Montana State has been postponed until a later date.
The Griz will now turn their attention to the Pac-12's Utah Utes next Saturday, Feb. 17, in Salt Lake City.
