Let's get through this together with #GrizClassics
3/23/2020 11:07:00 AM | General, Men's Basketball
During the debut week of #GrizClassics, we paid tribute to the 2020 basketball team that saw its season get cut short by watching Montana's home win over Montana State in the 300th edition of the Brawl of the Wild. This week, we have some all-time classics to pick from, including the Grizzlies' 2006 NCAA tournament win over Nevada and the 2010 Anthony Johnson game, in the 2010 Big Sky championship. Vote below which game you want us to live stream Thursday night!
Like the entire world, we, as Griz fans, are without live sports for the foreseeable future. It's a bummer, without a doubt. But it doesn't have to be all bad!
Â
With so many incredible moments in Montana history – from great matchups to incredible finishes to championships – there is plenty for fans to reflect back on. The problem is, with so many new games and moments being thrown at us all the time, we rarely take the time to sit back and relive the great moments of the past.
Â
For all of the negatives that the COVID-19 virus has brought us – and by no means does an athletic game negate the pain and suffering across the world – maybe it can allow us to pause. Looking at the big picture, sports do not matter. But as we've seen across generations, sports can be an escape from everything going on around us, too.
Â
So let's dive back into the archives and re-live, together, some of the great moments in Griz history.
Â
Here's how it will work: Every Monday on Twitter, @UMGRIZZLIES will give you, our fans, four Griz Classics to vote on. The winner, based solely on your votes, will be announced later in the week, and on Thursday we will 'live' stream the game in its entirety across our Twitter and Facebook platforms.
Â
Maybe we can even join together and live tweet the games, as if we are watching them in real time – for the first time.
Â
We're digging through our archives to find the best games that you will want to see, and as long as you keep watching them, we'll keep showing them.
Â
There's a lot of pain in the world right now, so let's have some fun reliving some good times!
Â
Do you have a game you want to see? Send us a tweet or comment on Facebook using the hashtag #GrizClassics, and we'll see if we can add it to our database. Some games, unfortunately, can't be shown – either due to broadcast rights or simply because our archives don't have the footage. But if you send us a game, we promise we'll do our best to find it!
It's a new week, meaning another opportunity to vote on a #GrizClassics game YOU want to watch Thursday night!

We're digging through the archives to find some of the best games, moments & finishes in Montana history, but let's begin this week with one more salute to the 2020 @MontanaGrizBB team that had its season cut short.
