In this age of social distancing, the Montana Grizzlies are taking you behind the scenes of some of the most legendary games in program history with the players and coaches who were on the field in the new series Griz Classics Chalk Talk.
Â
This spring, head coach Bobby Hauck will virtually welcome former greats back to the UM campus via video conference call, and break down the film from some of the most iconic games of Hauck's first tenure with the Griz from 2003-2009.
Â
In the first installment of Griz Classics Chalk Talk, Hauck takes fans inside one of the greatest games in Washington-Grizzly Stadium history: the 2009 classic against Appalachian State in the FCS Semifinals.
Â
Hosted by the "Voice of the Griz" Riley Corcoran, Hauck is joined this week by All-America wide receiver and NFL Pro-Bowler Marc Mariani, and former NFL draft pick and current Grizzly safeties coach Shann Schillinger.
In the second episode of Griz Classics Chalk Talk, Hauck is joined by former record-setting running back Chase Reynolds, the "Butte Missile" Colt Anderson, and Mariani as they break down the film from the 2008 Griz/Cat game where Montana shocked the fans by running out in the copper and gold throwback uniforms.Â
In the third episode of Griz Classics Chalk Talk, former Quarterback Cole Bergquist joins Coach Hauck, Chase Reynolds and Colt Anderson to relive Montana's epic 2008 FCS Semifinal win at James Madison.Â
Â
In the fourth episode, Hauck is joined by the three captains of the 2009 team as they look back on the greatest comeback in program history - a 61-48 FCS Playoff win over South Dakota State where the Griz rattled off 40 unanswered points in the final 20 minutes of play to advance.Â
The fifth episode of Griz Classics Chalk Talk takes fans all the way back to 2004 and the FCS semifinal against Sam Houston State in Washington-Grizzly Stadium. Coach Hauck is joined by three former Grizzlies who all went on to play in the NFL in Corey Procter, Tuff Harris, and Justin Green.Â
