Â
A national search that will lead to the next head coach of the Montana Lady Griz women's basketball program has begun.
Â
Director of Athletics Kent Haslam will lead the process. He will be assisted by an eight-person search committee:
Â
Mike Frellick, Community and Hoop Club member
Jean Gee, Senior Associate AD/SWA
Dan Ingram, Associate AD for Development
Melanie Meuchel, head softball coach
Charlie Palmer, UM professor and Faculty Athletic Representative
Krista Redpath, Former Lady Griz player
Sheila Stearns, Community member and former President of UM and Commissioner of Higher Education
Jen Zellmer-Cuaresma, Athletic Academic Advisor
Â
It's the first national search for the program's head coach since Robin Selvig was hired in June 1978.
Â
Selvig, who retired in July 2016, would coach the Lady Griz for 38 years, leading them to 865 wins, 24 conference championships and 21 NCAA tournament appearances.
Â
"Our intention since last spring has been to conduct a national search for the next Lady Griz head coach when the current season concluded," said Haslam.
Â
"I appreciate the search committee helping vet candidates and find the very best leader of this storied program."
