Three Montana soccer players who helped lead the Grizzlies to last month's NCAA tournament have been named Scholar All-West Region by the United Soccer Coaches.
Â
Claire Howard earned first-team honors, a first for the Grizzlies since Taryn Miller in 2017, while Avery Adams and Alexa Coyle were named second team.
Â
It's the first time Montana has had three Scholar All-West Region selections since 2014 and just the second time in program history.
Â
Howard and Adams were both repeat selections, with each moving up a team. Howard was second team in 2019, Adams third team.
Â
Howard, the 2020-21 Big Sky Conference Goalkeeper of the Year and the league's all-time leader in shutouts, completed work on a master's degree in public administration this past semester.
Â
Adams and Coyle joined Howard as first-team All-Big Sky selections this spring as Montana went 9-2-0 and won the Northwest Division title before claiming the tournament championship as well.
Â
Montana lost to South Carolina 1-0 in the opening round of the NCAA tournament.
Â
Adams graduated earlier this month with a degree in environmental studies, Coyle with a master's degree in business administration.
