Coyle named first-team academic all-district

Montana senior Alexa Coyle, who graduated last month with a 3.96 GPA as a management information systems major, was named first-team Academic All-District 6 on Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Coyle was one of 13 student-athletes to make first team in a district that includes Division I soccer programs covering 11 states, from Mississippi to Minnesota to Montana.

Coyle becomes Montana's first CoSIDA All-District honoree since Kaitlin Crowell in 2017 and just the third since 2000. She is the first Grizzly to earn first-team honors since Courtney Mathieson in 1997.

Coyle led Montana in goals all four years of her career, finishing with 19, which is tied for ninth in program history. Nine of her career goals were game-winners, a total that ranks fourth.

As a senior, she was voted first-team All-Big Sky Conference and named a second-team Scholar All-West Region selection by the United Soccer Coaches.

She was voted to the Big Sky Conference All-Tournament team four times in her career and was a part of teams that went 25-7-10 over four years against league opponents.

Montana won Big Sky tournament titles and advanced to the NCAA tournament when Coyle was a sophomore and a senior. She was part of regular-season championship teams as a junior and senior.
