Montana placed 104 student-athletes on the Academic All-Big Sky Conference lists for spring sports, the league office announced on Wednesday.
Â
Thirty-four members of the men's outdoor track and field team were recognized, as were 30 from the women's team, 15 from softball, nine from women's golf and men's tennis, and seven from women's tennis.
Â
The Big Sky academic teams typically have both a 3.2 cumulative GPA and minimum participation criterion. The latter was suspended for the 2020-21 academic year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Â
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Sky, student-athletes must have been on an active roster in 2020-21 in addition to holding a minimum of a 3.2 cumulative GPA through the spring semester.
Â
Coach Kris Nord's women's golf team and coach Jason Brown's men's tennis team both led the Big Sky with nine selections in those sports. Both programs had nine of their 10 student-athletes recognized.
Â
Coach Steve Ascher's women's tennis team had all seven players honored, while the men's track and field team's total of 34 was the second-most selections in the league in that sport.
