The Montana Grizzlies will have three games broadcast nationwide by Big Sky Conference broadcast partners ROOT Sports and ESPNU this upcoming season, the league announced Monday at the annual football kickoff in Spokane.
Â
Headlined by the 120th edition of the "Brawl of the Wild" on Nov. 20, ROOT Sports will air two Griz games and four total Big Sky games in 2021. The Grizzlies' Oct. 30 home game against Southern Utah will also be shown on ROOT Sports affiliates around the country.
Â
ESPN, the Big Sky's newest broadcast partner, will also air Montana's Oct. 2 game at Eastern Washington on its ESPNU network. The Big Sky will have a total of two games broadcast on ESPNU this season as one of the only FCS leagues to have its games broadcast on linear television.
Â
Kickoff times and potential streaming options for all three games will be announced at a later date. Broadcast details, streaming options, as well as kickoff times for Montana's remaining seven regular-season games will also be announced at a later time.
Â
ROOT Sports, which recently added the NBA's Portland Trail Blazers and the Seattle Kraken of the NHL to its live sports coverage lineup, will also broadcast Cal Poly's game at Montana State and Eastern Washington's rivalry game with Idaho to complete its four-game Big Sky schedule.
Â
ESPN is also slated to air Weber State's game against Montana State on ESPNU as part of its new, multi-platform rights agreement with the "worldwide leader in sports."
Â
ROOT Sports is operated by AT&T Sports Networks, which operates regional sports networks in the Northwest, Pittsburgh, Rocky Mountain and Southwest regions. The four networks combined reach across 22 states and own exclusive rights to produce and distribute live events from more than 25 teams and conferences.
Â
ESPNU is a digital cable and satellite sports television channel owned by ESPN Inc. The channel is primarily dedicated to coverage of college athletics, and is also used as an additional outlet for general ESPN programming. ESPNU is based alongside its sister networks at ESPN's headquarters in Bristol, Connecticut. As of September 2018, ESPNU is available to approximately 62.7 million pay television households (68% of households with cable TV) in the United States.
Â
Montana opens the 2021 season in Seattle on Sept. 4 when UM takes on the University of Washington on the Pac-12 Network, with kickoff set for 6 p.m. (MT).
Â
The Grizzlies then open the season at home against Western Illinois on Sept. 11 in Missoula, with broadcast and kick time details still to be announced.

Season ticket packages as well as single-game tickets for home and away contests are available now at GrizTix.com.
