The University of Montana and Grizzly Athletics are proud to announce that Wipfli has signed to become the new presenting sponsor of the Grizzly Sports Hall of Fame, helping Montana celebrate its legendary student-athletes, coaches, and teams.
Â
Wipfli, an official partner of Grizzly Athletics, is a top 20 accounting and consulting firm, serving more than 7,000 clients in Montana. Through its office in Missoula, the firm invests heavily in the local community, supporting more than 15 nonprofits and charities throughout Western Montana.
Â
With the partnership, Wipfli will become the presenting sponsor of the Grizzly Sports Hall of Fame and its annual induction banquet at UM's Adams Center for the next three years.
Â
"Wipfli's vision is to create a lasting, positive impact for every person, organization, and community we touch," said Ryan Lindsay, Wipfli's Rocky Mountain regional leader. "We're proud to support the Grizzly Sports Hall of Fame in its effort to honor the impact and values of leaders in athletics."
Â
The Grizzly Sports Hall of Fame was founded in 1993 to pay tribute and give lasting recognition to those student-athletes, coaches, and teams who have made exceptional contributions and brought recognition, honor, and distinction to the University of Montana in the field of Intercollegiate Athletics, and who have continued to demonstrate in their lives the values imparted by their experience.
Â
Induction into the Hall of Fame represents the highest athletic honor the University can bestow.
Â
"We are extremely grateful to Wipfli for their willingness to support this outstanding event. This new partnership is valuable in continuing the celebration of Grizzly student-athletes and those who dedicate so much to the University of Montana," said director of athletics Kent Haslam.
Â
The Grizzly Sports Hall of Fame will induct a star-studded "Pride of Montana" class of 2022 this fall on Sept. 9, with four born-and-raised Montana legends set to enter the Hall of Fame.
Â
The class of 2022 includes All-American runner Scott McGowan of Poplar, Lady Griz Big Sky MVP Ann (Lake) Rausch of Missoula, All-America offensive lineman Thatcher Szalay of Whitefish, and championship-winning basketball player and coach Blaine Taylor of Missoula.
Â
Long-time voice and scribe of Montana athletics "Grizzly" Bill Schwanke will also be UM's fourth recipient of the Grizzly Lifetime Honors Award.
Tickets to this once-in-a-lifetime event cost $55 and include a seat at the banquet and plated beef dinner. The 2022 GSHF Banquet starts with a no-host cocktail reception at 6 p.m., with the event getting underway at 6:30. Doors to the Adams Center open at 5:45.
Â
Mobile and print-at-home tickets can be purchased at GrizTix.com. Tables of 10 tickets are also available for purchase. Tickets are on sale online and at the Adams Center Ticket Office through Sept. 3.
Â
The five will also be celebrated on the field during Montana's home football game against South Dakota the following day on Sept. 10. Single-game and season tickets are now on sale at GrizTix.com.
Â
Montana inducted a banner class into the Hall of Fame in 2021 in front of a capacity crowd at the Adams Center. Record-setting quarterback Brian Ah Yat, All-America decathlete Adam Bork, Big Sky MVP Skyla Sisco of the Lady Griz, and legendary men's basketball player/coach Wayne Tinkle were each enshrined. Long-time UM ticket office manager Gary Hughes was also presented the Lifetime Honors Award.
Â
The Grizzly Sports Hall of Fame is comprised of 67 former UM athletes, coaches, and teams. Athletes and coaches become eligible for nomination 10 years after their careers at the University of Montana end.
