Big Sky releases preseason indoor track and field polls

The Big Sky Conference announced its indoor track & field coaches' poll results on Thursday, The Montana Grizzlies were tabbed seventh in both the men's and the women's polls. They shared the spot with Eastern Washington on the women's side with a tie at 42 points. The men received 44 points.

Northern Arizona topped both polls after a sweep of the indoor, outdoor and cross country championships last season. They were followed by Idaho in second and Montana State in third for both the men and women. Idaho State and Weber State went fourth and fifth in both polls, before some differences in the bottom half.

Montana was originally scheduled to kick off the indoor season with the Bobcat Preview in December, but after the event was postponed the Grizzlies dropped from the field. Now, they will prepare for the season opener next weekend at the Spokane Indoor Challenge.

The meet is tentatively scheduled for a late start featuring just over an hour's worth of events on Friday night, followed by a full day of events on Saturday, Jan. 14.
