
Three Lady Griz named Academic All-District

Three players from the Montana women's basketball program were named Academic All-District on Tuesday by College Sports Communicators.

Earning the honors were fifth-year seniors Sammy Fatkin and Carmen Gfeller, and sophomore Dani Bartsch.

Fatkin, in her final season as a Lady Griz, has a 3.63 GPA as she works towards a master's degree in public administration.

She is a two-time Academic All-Big Sky Conference selection who is averaging 12.1 points and a career-best 5.7 rebounds this season.

Gfeller, who will be returning to the Lady Griz for one more season it was announced on Monday, has a 3.88 GPA as she also pursues a master's degree in public administration.

She is a two-time Academic All-Big Sky selection and was voted third-team All-Big Sky in 2020-21, first-team last season. She leads Montana in scoring this season at 13.2 points per game.

Bartsch, who was named Academic All-Big Sky last year as a freshman, has a 3.86 GPA as an accounting major.

She is averaging 5.0 points and a team-high 7.1 rebounds, which ranks seventh in the Big Sky. The Lady Griz are 5-2 since she was put into the starting lineup late last month.

Montana will close out its regular-season schedule in the coming days with road games at Portland State and Sacramento State this week and a home game against Idaho on Monday night.
