Montana breaks ground on Grizzly Indoor Practice Facility

The University of Montana and Grizzly Athletics officially ushered in a new era of training opportunities for its over 300 student-athletes, and opened a world of recreational possibilities to the Missoula community on Friday.

Supporters and stakeholders of the new Grizzly Indoor Practice Facility gathered on the future 50-yard line to break ground on a state-of-the-art, four-season training facility – the first of its kind in the state of Montana.

The $10.2 million project is 100-percent privately funded, with no tuition or tax dollars going to toward building the facility that will be a community asset for years to come.

With over 111,000 square feet of space for indoor football, track, soccer practices and more, the Grizzly Indoor Practice Facility will be a hive of activity for Grizzly Athletics, UM intermural and club sports, as well as groups from around the greater Missoula area.

Athletic Director Kent Haslam, head football coach Bobby Hauck, and Director of Campus Recreation Steve Thompson were on hand for remarks and thank you's for those who helped funk the project.
