The Montana/Idaho rivalry will be played out in the national spotlight in 2023, with ESPN 2 selecting the game to be televised across the country as part of the Big Sky Conference's partnership with the network.
The "Battle for the Little Brown Stein" is scheduled for October 14 in Moscow, with kickoff from the Kibbie Dome now set for 8:30 p.m. Mountain Time/7:30 p.m. local time.
The game is one of two in the Big Sky to be placed on ESPN2 this season, with Montana State's game at Sacramento State on October 21 also selected. It marks the first time the league will have two regular-season games aired nationwide on "the deuce."
Montana has won seven of the last eight meetings with Idaho dating back to the turn of the century, a stretch that includes four-straight wins in Moscow. Idaho holds a 29-13-2 all-time home record advantage in Moscow, however, in a series dating back to 1903.
The Vandals, picked No. 7 in the recent Athlon Sports preseason poll, claimed the Little Brown Stein for the first time since 1999 last season with a 30-23 win in Missoula.
The UM/Idaho game will be Montana's third-straight regular-season appearance on ESPN2. The Griz were featured against Eastern Washington in 2021 and Sacramento State in 2022.
The remainder of Montana's television schedule and kickoff times will be announced in the coming weeks.
