Griz to play in “54 for IX” this fall

The Montana women's golf team, as one of its four fall events, will compete in the Big Sky Conference's "54 for IX" tournament in September as the league celebrates 50 years of Title IX.
The two-day, 54-hole tournament will be held Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 25-26, at TalonsCove Golf Club in Saratoga Springs, Utah.
The tournament will feature all 10 Big Sky teams, along with some additional Division I programs from the state of Utah.
The event will be the second of four for the Grizzlies, who open their fall season with a match-play competition against Idaho State on Tuesday, Sept. 19, at the Missoula Country Club.
In October, Montana will play at the Big O Classic at Oak Hills Country Club in Omaha, Neb., and the Eagle Invitational at Indian Canyon Golf Course in Spokane, Wash.
Montana will return its top four golfers from last season in 2023-24: rising sophomore Raina Ports, fifth-year senior Tricia Joyce, senior Madison Cecil and junior Kylie Franklin.
Rising sophomores Kendall Hayward and Hannah Ports also return for coach Kris Nord, who brings in freshmen Kate Bogenschutz (Grafton, Wis.) and Elle Higgins (Centennial, Colo.).
