Montana to host N7 games

For the second straight year, Grizzly Athletics is teaming up with the Nike N7 program to host two N7 basketball games. The University of Montana resides on the traditional lands of many Indigenous peoples including the Selis (Salish), Ksanka (Kootenai), and Qlispe (Kalispel). Many Indigenous peoples, including the Amskapi Pikuni (Blackfeet), Nimiipuu (Nez Perce), Shoshone, Bannock, and Coeur D'Alene relied upon their traditional knowledge and relationships with this land and this space for survival in the past and today.
This season's games begin this week with the Lady Griz on Saturday, January 27 against Sacramento State. The following week, on Saturday, February 3, the Griz will host Eastern Washington in the second game. Tickets for both games are available now via GrizTix.
The Griz and Lady Griz will take the court in customized turquoise uniforms created by Nike. Turquoise is a color that symbolizes friendship and fellowship in Native American cultures. This year's N7 logo was designed by Lyle Omeasoo, who was born on the Blackfeet Reservation in Montana. He is of the Blackfeet and Cree tribes.
Officially licensed Nike Griz retail is available for sale through the GoGrizStore, The M Store, Scheels, and Universal Athletics locally as well as Dicks Sporting Goods in Spokane.
The N7 program is a Nike initiative, led by Fort Peck native Sam McCracken, that shows Nike's long-time commitment and mission to inspire and enable 2 million Native America and Aboriginal youth in North America to participate in sport and physical activity. Nike's investments, through grants administered on behalf of the N7 Fund, have totaled over $10.8 million to nearly 300 organizations since 2009.
Additional in-game elements will also celebrate Native American history in the state of Montana.
