
Montana lands 62 on Big Sky winter academic teams

Montana had 62 student-athletes make the Academic All-Big Sky Conference Team for winter sports, the league office announced on Monday.

The Grizzlies had the third-highest total in the Big Sky for the sports of women's basketball, men's basketball and women's and men's indoor track and field.

To be eligible, student-athletes must have had at least a 3.2 cumulative GPA through the fall semester and have competed in at least half of their team competitions this past season or, in the case of indoor track and field, at the conference championship.

Men's basketball coach Travis DeCuire's and women's basketball coach Brian Holsinger's teams both had eight players make the list.

DeCuire's team tied for the second-highest total in that sport, Holsinger's squad tied for third.

Coach Doug Fraley's women's indoor track and field team had 28 student-athletes recognized, his men's team had 18 make the list. Their combined total of 46 was the third highest in the Big Sky.
