ESPN will return to Missoula for a regular season home football game for the first time in nearly a decade in 2024 when the defending Big Sky champion Montana Grizzlies host UC Davis in a preseason top-25 showdown at Washington-Grizzly Stadium on Nov. 9.
Â
As part of the Big Sky's continued partnership with "The Worldwide Leader in Sports," the Grizzlies vs. Aggies game will be one of two league games to air nationwide on the ESPN family of networks this coming season, the conference announced Thursday.
Â
Kickoff time and the exact network to carry the game will be announced at a later date. The remainder of Montana's kick times and broadcast details will also be announced in the near future.
Â
Additionally, ESPN networks will air the Idaho at Montana State game in Bozeman on Oct. 12, marking just the second time in Big Sky history two regular season conference games will be shown on nationwide linear TV.
Â
The Grizzlies went 3-0 in games televised on ESPN in 2023, with the regular season win at Idaho broadcast around the nation on ESPN2. The last time ESPN broadcast a regular season game from Missoula was the epic 2015 win over North Dakota State.
Â
Montana last faced UC Davis on the road in 2023 when the Aggies were ranked No. 18 in the nation. The Griz earned a 31-23 win that day to help springboard UM into a magical run to a Big Sky title and on to the FCS national championship game. Montana is now 9-1 all-time against UC Davis.
Â
The Grizzlies were ranked No. 3 in a 2024 HERO Sports preseason FCS poll earlier this month, while the Aggies slotted in at No. 21.
Â
The Griz open the 2024 season on Aug. 31 in Missoula against Missouri State, who announced their intention to leave the Missouri Valley Football Conference and move up to the FBS ranks in 2025 as a member of Conference USA.
Â
Montana will play seven regular season home games in 2024 for the first time since 2007 and for just the fifth time in program history.
