Tickets going fast for Grizzly Sports Hall of Fame Banquet

Only two weeks remain to secure your tickets to the annual Grizzly Sports Hall of Fame Banquet presented by SG Long Financial.

The state's biggest Hall of Fame event is set for Friday, Nov. 7, at the Adams Center on the University of Montana Campus. Fans have until Monday, Nov. 3, to purchase their tickets.

This year's banquet starts with a no-host social at 5 p.m., with the banquet dinner and induction ceremony starting at 6 p.m.

Fans have the chance to celebrate the careers of a legendary coach, one of UM's most prolific football players, and two of the most successful basketball teams in program history at this year's event.

Mike Mongomery, one of the founders of UM's renowned basketball coaching tree, and Griz football's all-time leader in rushing touchdowns Chase Reynolds of Drummond, will be inducted into the Hall of Fame as individuals.

The 1987-88 Lady Griz team that won a remarkable 26-straight games and went 28-2, will be inducted as group. The 2005-06 Grizzly basketball team – the last from the Big Sky Conference to win an NCAA Tournament game – will also be inducted on the squad's 20th anniversary.

Montana's colorful history of beloved broadcasters will be celebrated at the banquet as well. Longtime "Voice of the Lady Griz" Tom Stage was named this year's co-recipient of the Grizzly Lifetime Honors Award. Legendary "Voice of the Griz" Mick Holien will also receive the Lifetime Honors Award posthumously.

Tickets to this once in a lifetime event cost $75 (plus fees) and include a social hour with Hall of Fame inductees and fans, a plated sit-down dinner, and reserved seats at the banquet. Tables of 10 are available for purchase as well. For more information, visit GrizTix.com.

The five will also be celebrated on the field during Montana's home football game against Eastern Washington the following day on Nov. 8.

The Grizzly Sports Hall of Fame was founded in 1993 to pay tribute and give lasting recognition to those student-athletes, coaches, and teams who have made exceptional contributions and brought recognition, honor, and distinction to the University of Montana in the field of Intercollegiate Athletics, and who have continued to demonstrate in their lives the values imparted by their experience. Induction into the Hall of Fame represents the highest athletic honor the University can bestow.

Established in 2018, the Grizzly Lifetime Honors Award pays tribute and gives recognition to supporters of Grizzly Athletics who are not eligible for the Grizzly Hall of Fame, which includes athletes and coaches only.
