Montana sophomore quarterback Keali'i Ah Yat was recognized as one of the most elite players in the FCS on Wednesday with a place on the 2025 Walter Camp Player of Year Watch List.
Â
Ah Yat was one of just fifteen players from around the subdivision named to the list and one of just two from the Big Sky Conference.
Â
The watch list includes five running backs, four quarterbacks, three wide receivers and three defensive players. Now in its third year, The Walter Camp FCS Player of the Year, presented by Crabtree Lexus of New Haven, will be determined in mid-December.
Â
In his first full year as a Grizzly starter, Ah Yat is on the cusp of a historic season, just 32 yards shy of becoming just the 16th quarterback in UM history to throw for 3,000-plus yards in one year.
Â
Currently with 2,968 yards through the air, he leads the Big Sky and is top eight in the FCS in passing yards, passing touchdowns, and points responsible for. His season long passing completion percentage of .675 would make him one of just five Grizzly QBs ever to complete 67 percent or more of his passes in a season.
Â
Ah Yat has also been the lynchpin in Montana's offense that has hummed along to the tune of 42 points per game, the second-best average in the FCS.
Â
Former Monmouth running back Jaden Shirden was the first recipient of the Walter Camp Player of Year award in 2023, while former Montana State quarterback Tommy Mellott was the 2024 recipient.
