A new era of college athletics has arrived, and the University of Montana has made another step in bolstering name, image, and likeness opportunities for student-athletes by officially bringing its preferred NIL Collective Good Ol' Grizzlies under the athletic department umbrella.
Good Ol' Grizzlies will continue to facilitate NIL transactions between Montana student-athletes and fans, donors, and businesses. After opting in to the changes and guidelines outlined in the House v. NCAA settlement, bringing Good Ol' Grizzlies in-house will allow Grizzly Athletics to share revenue with student-athletes.
Individuals and businesses can now directly support UM student-athletes and help coaches build competitive rosters through tax-deductible donations made to Good Ol' Grizzlies via the University of Montana Foundation.
Marcus Welnel, a former Grizzly football standout who previously managed Good Ol' Grizzlies, will manage the program for UM athletics as an Assistant AD and Chief Revenue Officer.
"By bringing Good Ol' Grizzlies in-house, The University of Montana is now built to thrive in this new era of college athletics and continue being a leader in everything we do. I'm excited to keep building on the foundation we created with Good Ol' Grizzlies and align those efforts directly within the athletic department," said Welnel.
"Griz Nation has an incredible opportunity to make a direct impact by contributing through the University of Montana Foundation to support our student-athletes. Together, we'll continue to strengthen the unmatched pride and championship tradition that define Montana Athletics.
