
Montana puts 62 on Big Sky winter academic teams

The University of Montana's winter sports teams had 62 student-athletes named Academic All-Big Sky Conference the league office announced on Wednesday.

Coach Doug Fraley's indoor track and field program had 47 athletes honored, coach Nate Harris's women's basketball team had 10, coach Travis DeCuire's men's basketball team had five.

Montana's total ranked fourth in the Big Sky.

To be eligible, student-athletes must have had at least a 3.2 cumulative GPA through the fall semester and then competed in at least half of their team competitions this past winter or, in the case of indoor track and field, at the Big Sky Championship.

Harris's team had the third-highest total in the league in that sport and matched the program record for Academic All-Big Sky selections in a non-COVID season.

Fraley's men's and women's indoor teams had the fourth-highest combined total in the league.
