Hockett named to CSC Academic All-District Team

Montana's graduate javelin thrower Matthew Hockett has earned a place on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team, the organization announced on Wednesday.
Hockett adds another honor to a long list of career accomplishments at Montana with the All-District recognition. In order to qualify, student-athletes were required to rank in the top 50 in their region in an event while also maintaining at least a 3.50 GPA, making it an exclusive list of the best both in competition and the classroom.
The graduate studying Pharmacy reached the NCAA West First Round and finished 29th in the West in College Station, Texas. He had a season-best throw of 223-2 this year, earned All-Big Sky honors with a second place finish at the league meet, and cracked the top 30 at regionals with a throw of 202-6.
Hockett has been an excellent student in his time at UM with a cumulative GPA of 3.59. He had a 3.71 GPA during the spring 2025 semester.
Hockett made three trips to the NCAA Regional meet in javelin in his career, scored at all four Big Sky Championships he competed in, and earned All-Conference honors once.
