Montana's men's and women's tennis teams have again been recognized for their work in the classroom by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, the ITA announced earlier this week.
With a Grizzly Athletic department-high 3.83 combined GPA for the men and an equally impressive 3.69 for the women in the 2024-25 academic year, both squads earned ITA All-Academic Teams honors.
A combined 16 players – nine for the men, seven for the women – also earned individual honors, being named ITA Scholar-Athletes.
Individual Scholar-Athlete standards are higher than academic all-conference standards with eligible players needing at least a 3.5 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) in an academic year to qualify. ITA All-Academic Teams must have a combined 3.2 GPA or above among eligible letterwinners.
Head Coach Jason Brown's men's team capped an already historic season with ITA academic honors after winning a conference title and the coveted Dusten Hollist Award for the highest cumulative GPA in Grizzly Athletics.
Tom Bittner, the Big Sky tournament MVP, was one of the nine Grizzlies to earn individual ITA honors after also winning UM's President's Award for the top student-athlete GPA for a second-straight year with a 4.0.
Other Scholar-Athletes for the men include Dragos Bucurescu, Moritz Lesjak, Duncan McCall, Fernando Perez, Eivind Tandberg, Baltazar Wiger-Nordas, Johnny Wilkinson, and Chris Zhang.
Head coach Steve Ascher's women's squad earned ITA All-Academic Team honors for now the 14th time in program history, with seven players being named Scholar-Athletes.
Seniors Grace Haugen and Rosie Sterk earned individual honors, as did junior Shivika Agrawal, sophomores Kaylin Kielty and Kelsey Phillips, and freshmen Monika Fizova and Kate Prichard.
In 2025, 994 Division I men and 1,462 women were named an ITA Scholar-Athletes nationwide. 222 women's program and 159 men's teams were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction.
