7/9/2025 11:48:00 AM | Football
Kickoff times and TV details were announced for the majority of Montana's 12 game football season on Wednesday with the Big Sky Conference finalizing its full league slate.
Â
The Grizzlies will become the first FCS team to play eight regular season home games in 2025, with most set to start in the traditional early afternoon timeslot. Montana will open the season under the lights at Washington-Grizzly Stadium against Central Washington, but six of the remaining seven home games will start mid-day. The only start time yet to be determined is the Sept. 27 contest against Idaho on ESPN Networks.
Â
Scripps Sports also returns for its fourth year as Montana's primary broadcast partner in 2025, producing 10 of UM's 12 games to air on statewide on the Montana Television Network and stream nationwide without blackout on ESPN+. It also marks the second straight year Scripps has produced the majority of UM's games – both home and away, in conference and out.
Â
The only two games not produced by Scripps (Idaho and Sacramento State) will be broadcast to millions of viewers nationwide on the ESPN family of networks and will stream on the ESPN App.
Â
As part of the Big Sky's newly extended agreement through the 2029-30 season, Scripps will broadcast Griz games over the airwaves and on basic cable and satellite packages around the state via the Montana Television Network on KPAX in Missoula and Kalispell, KTVQ in Billings, KRTV in Great Falls, KXLH in Helena, KXLF in Butte and KBZK in Bozeman.
Â
Scripps recently announced a new broadcast team for its Montana football productions in 2025 as well, featuring former Grizzly Jordan Tripp as analyst and veteran play-by-play man Trey Bender leading the call.
Montana will play six of its first seven games of the season at home this year, starting with Central Washington under the lights in Missoula on Sept. 6 with kickoff set for 6 p.m. The Griz then face North Dakota on Sept. 13 and Indiana State on Sept. 20. Sacred Heart rounds-out the nonconference schedule on Oct. 18, with each starting at 1 p.m. All four nonconference games will be broadcast by Scripps Sports, with streaming available on ESPN+.
Â
The Griz travel to Idaho State on Oct. 4, Sacramento State on Oct. 24, Weber State on Nov. 1, and Portland State on Nov. 15 for their Big Sky road slate. ESPN2 will broadcast the game at Sac State at 8:30 p.m. (MT) while Scripps will broadcast the remainder of the road games. Kickoff from Idaho State is set for 6 p.m., Weber State at 1 p.m., and Portland State at 3 p.m. (MT).
Â
The Big Sky Conference home schedule starts Sept. 27 with Idaho on ESPN in Missoula, before continuing with Cal Poly on Oct. 11 at 2 p.m. for Homecoming on Scripps Sports. Eastern Washington kicks at 1 p.m. on Nov. 8 on Scripps, and the 124th edition of the Brawl of the Wild against Montana State will start at noon on Scripps as well.
Â
Scripps Sports currently airs Big Sky games throughout the league's footprint, with markets in Montana, Idaho, Arizona, California, Colorado and Utah. Last year's Brawl of the Wild game drew nearly 130K viewers across Scripps stations last year.
