The Big Sky Conference preseason favorite Weber State soccer team defeated Montana 3-0 on Sunday afternoon at South Campus Stadium in Missoula.

The Wildcats (8-6-2, 4-1-1 BSC), who sit alone atop the league standings, scored twice in the opening 24 minutes, then added a third goal in the 64th minute.

It was Weber State's first win over Montana (3-9-0, 1-3-0 BSC) in Missoula since 2010 and avenged a stinging setback in a shootout in last November's Big Sky title match on the same field.

Oakley Anderson scored the game-winner, her third goal of the season, in the 16th minute when she headed in a long pass from Harlee Thomas.

Lily Blum, the Big Sky's leading goal-scorer, made it 2-0 in the 24th minute.

Her initial shot from distance went off the crossbar and Montana's clearance put the ball back at Blum's feet. Her shot from 25 yards out scored inside the right post.

The Wildcats outshot the Grizzlies 11-2 in the first half and maintained 64 percent of the possession.

Though it didn't lead to a goal, a different Montana team emerged from the locker room.

Within the opening four minutes of the second half, Grace Morton put a shot off the crossbar and Caylee Dowler was denied close to goal by a Weber State defender.

A few minutes later, Elli Lewis had a breakaway that was thwarted at the last second by WSU's Isabella Sackett, a first-team All-Big Sky defender last season.

Montana was ultimately unable to cut its deficit in half, and Blum made it 3-0 when she scored from the corner of the 18-yard box off a free kick, her 10th goal of the season.

Megan Wilson-Sofield made one of the plays of the match in the 78th minute when she denied a Weber State attacker, who had gotten around Griz goalkeeper Avery Heeb, on the goal line.

Montana appeared to get on the scoreboard in the 81st minute.

Mia Draper's shot from the left side was blocked and went to Lewis, whose left-footed shot from 15 yards out bounced in the right side of the goal.

After video review, the goal was waved off (offside).

Montana, after two shots through the opening 45 minutes, put up a dozen in the second half. Lewis and Morton accounted for nine of the Grizzlies' 14 shots in the match.

Weber State took 25 shots, putting 11 on goal. Heeb matched a season high with seven saves.

Montana plays its final road matches of the regular season in the week ahead, playing at Northern Arizona (7-4-3, 3-0-1 BSC) on Thursday, at Northern Colorado (5-5-4, 2-0-2 BSC) on Sunday.

The Grizzlies will close out the regular season with home matches against Eastern Washington, Idaho and Portland State.
