The Montana soccer team lost 3-0 to Northern Colorado on Sunday afternoon at UNC's Jackson Stadium in Greeley.

The Bears scored twice in the first half, then used an own goal in the second half to snap a four-match losing streak against the Grizzlies and move into a tie for first place in the Big Sky Conference.

As league play enters the final two weeks, Northern Colorado (7-5-4, 4-0-2 BSC) and Northern Arizona (8-4-4, 4-0-2 BSC) sit atop the standings.

Montana (3-10-1, 1-4-1 BSC) is alone in eighth but closes the season with three consecutive home matches as the Grizzlies try to avoid missing the Big Sky tournament for the first time since 2013.

Montana hosts Eastern Washington, Idaho and Portland State and likely needs to win at least two of those to give itself a shot at making the six-team postseason tournament.

Northern Colorado, picked ninth out of 10 teams in the preseason poll, continued its surprising fall by scoring three times against Montana for the first time since 2015.

The Bears went up 1-0 in the 28th minute when Francesca Jordan's long cross from near the corner was punched out by Griz goalkeeper Avery Heeb but right to Ava Marshall, who scored inside the right post.

Northern Colorado took a 2-0 lead in the final minutes of the half when Nora Dougherty's cross from the end line was bodied into goal by Madeline Mori.

It was the fourth goal of the season for both Marshall and Mori.

The Bears' final goal came in the 69th minute, when a clearance attempt off the goal line by a Griz defender was kicked into the top of the goal.

Northern Colorado out-shot Montana 17-10 and had six corner kicks to the Grizzlies' three.

Heeb made six saves for Montana, with Grace Morton and Alexis Rabold accounting for the Grizzlies' two shots on goal.

Montana will host Eastern Washington at South Campus Stadium on Thursday at 3 p.m., Idaho next Sunday at 1 p.m.

The regular season will conclude with a home match against Portland State on Thursday, Nov. 5. That match will kick off at 1 p.m.
