14 Grizzlies named All-America Scholar-Athlete

Fourteen players from coach Stef Ewing's Montana softball program have been named Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete, matching a program record.

Montana's 2023 team also had 14 players named All-America Scholar-Athlete by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

More than half of the 24 players on Ewing's second Griz team made this year's list, including nine of Montana's 13 freshmen from this past season.

To be eligible for All-America Scholar-Athlete honors, players must have registered at least a 3.5 GPA for the 2025 fall and 2026 spring semesters.

Honored from this past season's team were: Kodi Allred, Jenna Barney, Hailey Boer, Brooklynn Braun, Jessica Cherms, Audri Elias, Brianna Gutierrez, Kaci Kiblen, Makinzie Nelson, Cameryn Ortega, Ava Puttler, Chloe Saxton, Carah Sweet and Madison Tarrant.

Tarrant, a rising senior who has a 3.88 GPA as a journalism major, was named All-America Scholar-Athlete for the third time.

Last month she was named Academic All-District by College Sports Communicators for the second time in her career.

Named All-America Scholar-Athlete for the second time were rising juniors Hailey Boer and Cameryn Ortega.

Boer has a 3.63 GPA as a business management major, Ortega a 3.52 GPA as a communication studies major.

After going 8-42 in 2025 in Ewing's first season, Montana, with only one senior on the team, improved to 22-32 in 2026 and finished tied for second in the Big Sky Conference, one game out of first.
