Griz report for fall camp Friday as Kennedy era begins

MISSOULA - Montana officially opens the Bobby Kennedy era Friday when the Grizzlies report for the first day of fall training camp, an intensive three-week practice period leading up to the season opener against Southern Utah on Aug. 29 at Washington-Grizzly Stadium.

Players report back to Missoula on Friday, July 31, for two days of meetings, equipment fitting and walk-throughs. The Griz then return to Dornblaser Field at UM's South Campus for the first official practice of the year on Monday, Aug. 3.

The first 11 practices through Friday, Aug. 14, will be held at Dornblaser and are open to the public and media, beginning at approximately 2:30 p.m. Practices on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday the following week are also open to the public.

Practices will be closed to media and public on Aug. 15, 19, 21, and 22. All practices are open to Quarterback Club members.

Montana returns five starters (3O/2D) and 31 lettermen from a team that went 13-2, reached the FCS national semifinals for the 13th time in program history and produced one of the most explosive offenses in school history.

Returning starters include quarterback Keali'i Ah Yat and running back Eli Gillman, both named preseason All-Americans and both named to the Walter Payton Award watch list. Linebacker Peyton Wing also earned a preseason All-American nod and a spot on the Buck Buchanan Award watch list.

Gillman was selected this week at the Big Sky's annual kickoff event in Spokane to repeat as the league's preseason offensive Player of the Year. He earned a spot on the preseason all-conference team alongside Wing and defensive end Jake Mason.

The Griz open the Kennedy era on Aug. 29 with a Big Sky Conference showdown against the Thunderbirds in the first of seven regular season home games in 2026. New season ticket packages, mini plans, and single game tickets are on sale now at GrizTix.com or GoGriz.com/Tickets.
