2017: Third Team All-Big Sky... McKinley led the Big Sky in passes defended (15)... Posted a pair of interceptions, one of which he returned 53 yards for a touchdown against Savannah State.
2016: McKinley played in 10 games, totaling 24 tackles … second on the team with two interceptions … ranked third on the team with four pass break-ups and third with six pass deflections … forced a fumble against Idaho State Nov. 5 … season-high eight tackles on Sep. 10 against UNI.
2015: McKinley played in 12 games as a redshirt sophomore … Was Montana’s 24th leading tackler with seven tackles … Registered four solo tackles and three assisted tackles … Registered a pass breakup on Nov. 21 at Montana State.
2014: McKinley played in four games and had one unassisted tackle, against Sacramento State … Also had one pass breakup.
2013: He was a redshirt.
HIGH SCHOOL: He had three interceptions and 38 tackles in 2012 for his Boulder Creek High School team. His prep football coach was Dan Friedman. He earned 10 letters four each in football and track, and two in basketball. He was a team captain and voted his team’s defensive MVP as a senior. He was tabbed first team all-state, all-division, and all-section at defensive back following his senior year.
PERSONAL: His major is journalism, and he is interested in a career in sports broadcasting. His parents are Rick and Shaunne McKinley of Anthem.
