HIGH SCHOOL: He earned eight letters at Custer County District High School: three each in football and track, and two in basketball. His 2011 football team won the state "A" championship. He was an all-state pick in football as a senior, and a three-time all-league selection. He participated in both the Montana East-West Shrine Game and in the Montana-Dakota All-Star Game. He was named to the Great Falls Tribune "Super Team" in the state. He was chosen team MVP in football on defense as a senior. His prep football coach was Dan Stanton. He was voted track team MVP his senior year. He was named his high school's athlete of the year. He was also an outstanding weight man in track, throwing the shot put and discus. He was a scholar-athlete with a 3.7 GPA.
