Corey Edsall joined the Montana Football program in the 2026 season as UM’s Game Management Coordinator, Offensive Assistant, and Player Personnel Coordinator.
Prior to coming to Montana, Edsall coached at Stanford University for four seasons as an offensive quality control analyst working with the wide receivers, and as the assistant tight ends coach. Edsall also assisted head coach Frank Reich with Game Management for the 2025 season.
With Edsall as a key voice in the tight end room, he helped turn Sam Roush into a Second Team All-ACC selection in 2025 and arguably one of the best in the country. Roush led the ACC in tight end receiving yards (545) and finished tied for the conference lead in tight end receptions (49), ranking fourth and fifth nationally. Roush became the eighth different Cardinal tight end to reach 100 receiving yards in a game when he did so against Pittsburgh. He was also one of five tight ends in the country to have multiple receptions of at least 50 yards.
His first two seasons at Stanford he worked with the Cardinal Wide Receivers. He helped develop four players that went on to play in the NFL (Michael Wilson, Elijah Higgins, Brycen Tremayne and Elic Ayomanor). Michael Wilson, Elijah Higgins and Brycen Tremayne were named to the Honorable Mention All Pac-12 team in 2022.
In 2023, the group was led by redshirt freshman breakout receiver Elic Ayomanor, who recorded 62 receptions for 1,013 yards and six touchdowns. Ayomanor led the nation amongst all freshmen in receiving yards per game and ranked fourth overall in the Pac-12. He also set the single-game program record for receiving yards in a game with 294 at Colorado. In addition, Ayomanor’s 84.4 receiving yards per game was the most in the country for a freshman wide receiver in the past 5 years. This led to Ayomanor receiving All-Pac-12 honorable mention honors, as well as being named Freshman First Team All-America (PFF) and the 2023 recipient of the Jon Cornish Trophy, given annually to the best college football player from Canada. Ayomanor was also named to the Fred Biletnikoff Award watchlist, given annually to the best receiver in college football.
Prior to Stanford, Edsall was the tight ends coach at UConn for five seasons. During his time at UConn, Edsall coached Tyler Davis, who played four seasons in the NFL and is currently playing in the UFL. Davis tied for second in UConn single-season history with six touchdown catches for a tight end in 2018. Davis also ranked tenth in the AAC among all players with touchdown receptions and first among tight ends. The six touchdown catches for Davis ranked first on the team among all receivers. Davis was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 6th round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Tight End Aaron McLean ranked second on the team with 32 receptions and also had two touchdowns. The tight ends combined for 55 catches, 650 yards and 8 touchdowns in 2018. Edsall’s tight ends were also instrumental in producing a pair of 1,000-yard rushers for the first time since 2009.
In his first season at UConn, Edsall was part of an offense that went from 122nd to 50th in the nation in total offense and from 94th to 34th in passing offense. Tight end Alec Bloom was selected as a member of the 2017 Mackey Award Preseason Watch List and signed as an undrafted free agent with the Arizona Cardinals in 2018.
Prior to his five seasons at UConn, Edsall spent two seasons at Colorado. In 2016, he was part of the biggest turn around season in Pac-12 history. The Buffaloes went 10-4 and won the Pac-12 South Championship and appeared in the 2016 Pac-12 Championship game against the Washington Huskies. The Buffaloes also appeared in the 2016 Valero Alamo Bowl.
Edsall has spent two summers as a scouting intern in a pair of National Football League training camps, the New England Patriots in 2013 and the Philadelphia Eagles in 2014. He graduated with his bachelor's degree in family science from the University of Maryland in 2015.
In 2011 he started out as a freshman at Syracuse, where he played quarterback for coach Doug Marrone, but then transferred to Maryland. At Maryland, he worked three years (2012-14) as a student assistant on the offensive side of the ball, and staffed a pair of bowl games with the Terrapins (2013 Military, 2014 Foster Farms).
Edsall graduated from East Catholic High School in Manchester, Conn., where he lettered four times in football, twice in baseball and once in lacrosse. At Syracuse, he made the Big East All-Academic team for the 2011 season.
