Coach Ferriter is in his third season coaching at his alma mater, and his first year as the pass game coordinator and wide receivers coach. In 2015 and 2016 he coached the inside receivers under head coach Bob Stitt.
Â
During his time at Montana he coached Ben Roberts, who spent time in the NFL with the Tennessee Titans.
Â
He came back to Montana in 2015 from fellow Big Sky Conference member Idaho State, where he also coached the inside receivers.
Â
In his first year he coached Luke Austin, who earned second-team all-Big Sky Conference. Austin’s 951 receiving yards were the seventh most in program history, and his 11 touchdown receptions tied for the second most in ISU history.
Â
Ferriter (pronounced: Fair-it-ter) came to ISU after spending two years as an offensive graduate assistant at UNLV under former head coach Bobby Hauck, who was Montana’s mentor from 2003-2008.
Â
He was a stand-out receiver for the Grizzlies, and was a three-year starter and served as a team co-captain on offense as a senior in 2008. He is the 11th Grizzly player to reach the 2,000-yard receiving yards plateau.
Â
He finished his playing career at Montana ranked 12th in school history in both receptions (147) and receiving yards (2,089). His 15 career receiving touchdowns rank him 11th (tie) on the career list.
Â
After earning his bachelor’s degree in human biology, he spent the 2009 season coaching receivers at his alma mater, Helena High School.
