Bio
2025: (R-Sr.): Received a waiver from the NCAA for an extra year of eligibility and rejoined the team in time for spring practice.
2024 (Sr.): Physical in the blocking game and with ball in hand, Shafer played in all 14 games and made five starts as a senior... Caught 6 passes for 61 yards to average 10.17 YPC... Long catch was 20 yards.
2023 (Jr. - Montana): Was a breakout star at tight end in his first year as a Grizzly, making 11 starts and 15 appearances… Hauled in 10 passes for 89 yards and 3 touchdowns with a long catch of 25 yards against Delaware in the playoffs… Caught his first touchdown on his first catch as a Grizzly in his first start at Utah Tech and caught his second touchdown on his second catch in his second start against Idaho State. Two career starts, two career catches, two career touchdowns… A “Jack of all trades, he also saw reps on the D-line at nose guard.

2021 (Fr. - Hillsdale): Played in two games for the Chargers as a freshman… Caught a two-yard pass for his first career touchdown in a 20-3 win over Walsh.
High School: Standout lineman and three-sport athlete for Connersville (IN)... Was named team MVP both his junior and senior year, and earned All-Eastern Indiana Conference honors for three straight seasons, putting up 156 total tackles, 28 tackles for loss, 11 sacks and three fumble recoveries while also contributing as a fullback and tight end... A two-time sectional champion as a wrestler who finished fourth in the state of Indiana as a heavyweight and won semi-state and regional titles as a senior... Two-time regional qualifier in track and field in the 110m and 300m hurdles.
Personal: Graduated high school with academic and technical honors and completed the STEM pathway of the Early College High School program... Volunteered with the Connersville Youth Football League, his church youth group, local food banks, the Angel Tree Program, and Samaritans Purse... Parents are Jeremy and Kelly Shafer.
