2015: Herbert will once again start at linebacker. He was chosen to the preseason USA College Football All-American team as an honorable mention.
2014: Herbert was moved from safety to linebacker in 2014. He played in 14 games and started in all but one game. He was the fourth leading tackler for the Griz with 107 total tackles, 46 unassisted. He averaged 10.5 yards a game for a -42 yards. He had six sacks for a loss of 32 yards. He had two pass breakups and one quarterback hurry. He recovered a fumble against San Diego and a forced fumble against UC Davis. He was chosen to the all-conference football team as an honorable mention on defense.
2013: He played in 11 games and had 14 tackles.
2012: He was pressed into duty as a true freshman and played in seven games, missing a few games because of an injury.
HIGH SCHOOL: He helped the San Clemente High School Tritons to a 12-2 record and a berth in the Pac5 Southern Conference Section title game as a senior when he had 112 tackles, including 82 solo stops, and seven sacks. His prep football coach was John Hamro. He was voted "Defensive Player of the Year" his senior season. He was first team all-county and all-league in track as a senior. He was tabbed first team all-state in track in his senior year. He was a two-time MVP in track. He was the conference champion in the 100 meters (PR of 10.51).
