Maryn Lowry spent two seasons as an assistant coach with the Montana track & field and cross country programs (2019-21), helping develop the Grizzlies' distance runners.
In her first season on staff, six distance runners scored at the Big Sky Conference indoor championships, including June Eastwood, who won an individual title in the mile, and Jacob Lamb, who placed first in the 800 meters. Additionally, Montana's women's DMR team finished second. In May 2021, Lamb was again dominant, posting the fastest 800 meters time in the Big Sky that season and being one of two Grizzlies to score points in the event at the Big Sky Conference outdoor championships. Lamb would go on to qualify for NCAA regionals.
In cross country, Eastwood (eighth) and Beatrix Frissell (10th) earned All-Big Sky honors with top-10 finishes in 2019, before the 2020 season was mostly canceled due to COVID-19. Despite competing in just one race prior to the Big Sky Championship, which took place in late February 2021, Montana's men earned its best finish since 2015, with six athletes finishing in the top 50.
Lowry, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, ran four years at Iowa State before finishing her career at Montana as a graduate transfer.
She raced at the NCAA cross country championships in 2015 for Iowa State and was a member of the Cyclones’ Big 12 championship team in 2016. She six times competed at Big 12 indoor and outdoor track & field championships in events ranging from the 800 to 3,000 meters.
Lowry was a seven-time member of the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll and five times was named Academic All-Big 12.
She earned a degree in kinesiology from Iowa State in 2017.
Lowry competed for Montana during the 2017 cross country and 2019 outdoor track & field seasons.
She placed 28th at the 2017 Big Sky Conference cross country championships and led the Grizzlies at the NCAA Mountain Regional.
She ran a 4:24.72 in the 1,500 meters at the 2019 Bryan Clay Invitational to qualify for the NCAA West Regional, where she would place 35th in her final collegiate race.
Lowry earned a master’s degree in exercise science from Montana in 2019.
