The 2024-25 season is Lindsey Foster’s second year as an assistant coach at Montana. She was hired in September 2023 after previously serving as the head coach at Academy of Art in San Francisco.
In Foster’s first year at Montana, the Lady Griz won 23 games, advanced to the WNIT and won a game in a national postseason tournament for the first time since 2014.
Montana went from 14 to 23 wins in Foster’s first year and won a game at the Big Sky tournament for the first time since 2018. The Lady Griz defeated Boise State 92-66 in the first round of the WNIT.
A 2015 graduate of La Verne, Foster joined the Lady Griz with eight years of college coaching experience, at Gonzaga, Saint Martin’s, Sonoma State and Academy of Art.
After playing at Notre Dame De Namur, Foster finished her career at La Verne, where she earned first-team All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors as a junior and senior.
In two seasons with the Leopards, Foster totaled 653 points (13.6/g) and 305 rebounds (6.4/g). She also competed in the jumps for the school’s track and field program.
Foster got her start in college coaching at Gonzaga, where she served as a volunteer coach and video coordinator for Lisa Fortier’s staff in 2015-16 and 2016-17.
The Bulldogs won 26 games and advanced to the NCAA tournament in Foster’s second year with the program.
She coached under Christy Martin at Saint Martin’s for two years, 2017-18 and 2018-19, then joined coach Rich Shayewitz’s staff at Sonoma State.
She was an assistant coach in 2019-20, the program’s associate head coach in 2020-21 and 2021-22. She was the head coach at Academy of Art in 2022-23.
