UM Hoopster Sam Riddle To Transfer

University of Montana junior guard Sam Riddle will leave UM and transfer to The University of Montana-Western in Dillon next fall, announced Griz Head Coach Pat Kennedy.
"It was a real pleasure coaching Sam," Kennedy said. "During this past season both Sam and his family were a joy to work with. As he takes this next step in his academic and playing career, we wish Sam and his family all the best."
A 6-0, 185-pound guard from Missoula's Hellgate High School, Riddle is a three-year letterman (1999-2000, 2001-2002, and 2002-03) at Montana and played in 88 career games, starting in 14.
This past season Riddle played in 29 of 30 games and started in eight. He averaged 2.3 points,1.1 rebounds, and a team-leading 2.9 assists a game. Montana was 13-17 this year and 7-7 (third) in the Big Sky Conference.
Riddle had 310 career assists at Montana, which ranks him 11th in school history.
At UM, he scored 286 career points, had 110 rebounds, and 48 steals. He has been among the Big Sky leaders in
assist/turnover ratio the past three seasons.
He was a three-time all-state selection and three-time team MVP at Hellgate High School. He was Montana's USA Today Player of the Year following his senior season, when he averaged 18.5 points and 7.0 assists a game. He set Hellgate High School records in assists (294) and free throw percentage (.798).
Riddle verified that he would be transferring to UM-Western, but had no further comment.
