Montana soccer falls at Washington State

The Montana Grizzlies, battling a flu bug that has been being passed throughout the team the past week, dropped a 4-0 road decision to Washington State on Sunday.
With the loss, the Grizzlies drop to 0-3-1 on the season. Washington State, which won for the first time all season, improved to 1-3 on the year.
Washington State got two spectular first period goals, by Rachel Rodrick and Megan Cecchini to grab an early 2-0 lead.
Despite the some of her team suffering from flu-like symptoms, Nikki Bolstad and Wendy Stuker both vomited after the Idaho game, head coach Betsy Duerksen said her team continued to fight hard, and that she was pleased with the way her team fought against Washington State.
Haley Miller and Nicole Wilcox each added a goal in the second half to finish out the scoring.
For the match, Montana was out-shot by Washington State 21-7. Grizzly goalkeeper Sarah Braseth made ten saves in goal.
Montana's home opener is this Friday against Cal-Irvine in the first day of the Montana Diadora Cup at South Campus Stadium at 5 p.m. Portland State plays Cal-Poly on Friday as well. Then on Sunday the Grizzlies play Cal-Poly at 1 p.m. and Portland State takes on Cal-Irvine at 11 a.m.
