Maroon beats Silver in Griz scrimmage

Sophomore forward Matt Dlouhy scored a scrimmage-high 21 points to lead the way in The University of Montana Grizzlies' annual Maroon-Silver basketball scrimmage Tuesday evening in Adams Center/Dahlberg Arena.
The scrimmage was broken up into four quarters, two lasting eight minutes, and two going 12 minutes long, and players traded teams after each quarter. The quarters were all scored individually. When you added it all up, the final point total was 84-80, with the Maroons scoring the most points.
"We made a good portion of our shots which was good from a spectator's standpoint, but I am not too sure what that says about our defense," said first-year head coach Larry Krystkowiak. "We are making progress, but obviously we still have a lot of questions that need to be answered."
Other top scorers in the scrimmage were freshman forward Jordan Hasquet (17 points), followed by fellow freshman and guard Matt Martin, junior center John Seyfert, and junior guard Virgil Matthews, who all tallied 16 points apiece.
Also in double figures were senior forward Kamarr Davis (15 points), junior guard Kevin Criswell (13 points), junior forward Corey Easley (12 points), sophomore guard Brian Lynch (10 points), and freshman forward Andrew Strait (10 points).
"I thought our freshmen (Hasquet, Martin, and Strait) all did alright," Krystkowiak said. "They have been a pleasant surprise."
The Griz play their first exhibition game of the season on Thursday, Nov. 4, playing the University of Great Falls in a 7:05 p.m. game in Adams Center/Dahlberg Arena.
