Griz fly by Argos

The University of Montana Grizzlies had 11 different players score en route to a 90-46 victory over the visiting University of Great Falls Argonauts Tuesday evening in a non-league game played in front of 2,728 fans in UM's Adams Center/Dahlberg Arena.
With the score 19-15 with 7:56 left in the opening half, the Grizzlies (8-16) out-scored the Argos 21 to 9 to take a 40-24 lead at halftime.
Montana put the game completely out of reach in the opening eight-plus minutes of the final half, holding the Argos (6-19) scoreless, to take a 54-24 lead with 12:45 remaining, when junior forward Kamarr Davis connected on a jump shot. UM shot 60 percent in the second half on 15-of-25 shooting and made 7-of-10 treys.
The Griz were led by Davis, who scored a game-high 14 points, while junior guard Roy Booker tied his career-best with 13 points. UM's other double-figure scorer was junior center Corey Easley with 12 points. Griz senior forward/center Victor Venters tied his career-high with
8 rebounds.
The Argos' only double-figure scorer was sophomore forward Aaron Timmons, a Missoula native (Sentinel High School), who scored 11 points. Junior forward Rico Suazo led Great Falls with 8 rebounds.
Overall, Montana made 31-of-57 shots from the field for 54.4%, while Great Falls made 18-of-58 for 31.0%. The Griz made 12-of-22 treys (54.5%), while the Argos made 3-of-16 (18.8%) three-pointers. UM out-rebounded the much shorter Argos 42-27.
The Grizzlies host intrastate rival Montana State this Saturday at 7:05 p.m. in a key Big Sky Conference game in Missoula. The Bobcats are 5-6 in the Big Sky and 13-11 overall, while the Griz are 4-7/8-16.
